Coming This Fall
As 2020 Finalists, Therese and the University of Alberta Press will be online attendees as this year’s Alberta Book Publishing Awards are announced in a virtual gala reception. Further details on the virtual gala will be released in the coming weeks by the Book Publishers Association of Alberta (BPAA). See BPAA Awards short list.
Also coming this fall: For the first time, Therese joins the all-Canadian writers collective Mesdames of Mayhem in one of their popular anthologies. Her short story “Boom Town Shakedown” will appear in Grave Diagnosis, a short crime fiction anthology from Carrick Publishing.

2019 Wood Buffalo Excellence in Arts Awards

Memoir Writing Workshop, Fort McMurray
When: Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Syncrude Program Room, Wood Buffalo Regional Library.
Therese will be conducting a memoir-writing workshop designed for those who want to tell their stories of the 2016 wildfire. The workshop will also be of interest to any new writer who wants to tell a personal story. Presented free of charge as part of Alberta Culture Days, thanks to the generosity of the Writers Guild of Alberta, the Wood Buffalo Arts Council, the Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo, and The Wood Buffalo Regional Library. At the annual Western Writers of America Convention and 2019 Spur Award ceremonies, Therese will be accepting a Spur award for Best Short Story. Learn more.
Limestone Genre Expo, Kingston
When: Saturday, June 1, 2019
Where: Kingston Frontenac Public Library, 130 Johnson St.
Therese will be among the guest authors at the 2019 edition of the Expo. Book sales and signing. In the morning of the event, will do a reading and Q&A and will also present a one-hour workshop Finding the Words: Writing Your Memoir designed to help any new writer navigate the first steps in the writing process with practical tips and inspiration to help commit to writing in a judgement-free environment. This hands-on workshop will help participants find time for writing in a busy life, describe experiences with vivid imagery, and recreate dialogue. Learn more at the Limestone Genre Expo website.

2019 Arthur Ellis Awards Gala

Therese has again been short-listed for a Crime Writers of Canada Arthur Ellis Award. This year, she is a contender with her short story “The Power Man,” which appeared in the Coffin Hop Press Christmas-crime anthology Baby It’s Cold Outside.
